A woman tragically passed away after slipping off a waterfall while attempting a selfie.
According to reports from local media outlets, her heroic nephew did his absolute best to save her but just could not in the end. He ended up losing his life as well, bringing the death toll of the incident to two.
The victims were identified as Debora Mothe and Romulo Cordeiro. They were both traveling to the beautiful waterfall in Campos dos Goyacazes on the northern side of Brazil.
As per reports from the family, they explained how Debora slipped when she tried to capture the perfect image in local media outlets. Moreover, rescuers were only able to retrieve their remains after carrying out a massive 30-hour search.
Debora was a PE teacher and the teen was a student at the Centro campus at the Instituto Federal Fluminense.
The institute declared an official day of mourning and suspended academic activities on Monday after hearing the news.
The remains of the victims were related to their loved ones, soon after that. The entire community is in a state of mourning after hearing the news. They recalled the family as a loving and caring one who always greeted others with a smile.
