More devastating and haunting stories are getting published about the victims who survived the doomed superyacht sailing that left six people dead.
Amongst those included billionaire tech tycoon Mike Lynch’s wife who broke her silence after receiving the tragic news of her husband and daughter’s death. Their bodies were retrieved by divers during the search and rescue operation off the coast of Sicily.
The giant vessel sank after coming face to face with a giant waterspout that caused the boat to turn over and sink to nearly 150 feet below the sea.
Angela Bacares explained how she rushed with others to be seated on a rescue boat when the incident arose before sunrise on Monday. According to her, she had seconds to act as if nothing made sense at the time.
The 57-year-old mentioned how she was awoken when the boat tilted sharply. Before she knew it, she was showered with shards of broken glass. It was just so devastating for her to think about what had happened.
She risked getting her feet cut by walking over the glass and rushing to exit the vessel. She made it safely to the deck and onto the boat. Within minutes, the boat slipped beneath the waves.
It was not long before she realized that her husband and daughter were missing. But nothing much could be done as the severity of the storm was too much to return. The vessel had sunk and only prayers mattered at this point.
