Powerful 6.1 – Magnitude Earthquake Forces People To ‘Jump Out Of Windows’ As Tremors Felt Miles Away

A powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 6 rocked the eastern part of Turkey recently, as confirmed by the country’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority recently.

 

The disaster first struck the Malatya province which was thoroughly shaken by the quake during the morning hours of Wedensday while tremors were felt in nearby cities of Diyarbakir, Elazig, and Malatya as reported by local media outlets.

In Elazig alone, dozens oe people sustained minor injuries after jumping out of windows in a state of utter chaos and panic. As revealed by the Mayor, rescue and relief operations are currently underway.

Around 20 such incidents were reported in Malatya, the officials have confirmed.

People were so worried that they left their homes in a state of fear and panic for the worse as many aftershock effects were also anticipated.

“Our teams are on alert right now and filed scanning operations are taking place as we speak”- another source continued.

The European Meditteranean Seismological Center explained how the quake was located at a depth of 5.6 miles beneath the earth.

AFAD was one of the first to post about the scary situation on their account through the X app. 374 emergency calls and notifications were made to the 112 Emergency Call Center after the disaster struck.
